They got it going on: I’ve lived in seven states, seen a lot of dentists and this was first class. Adrian, Receptionist was great and Dr. Moynier was practical. He did not give me the kind of exorbitant estimate that some Dentists have . He clearly outlined options. Location in Central Boulder was easy access

Frequently Asked Questions About Having a Tooth Pulled

Do you have questions about having a tooth pulled? Here are some of the most commonly asked questions we hear. If your question isn’t on the list, please reach out to us and we would be happy to assist you!

During a tooth extraction, the area around your tooth will be numbed with a local anesthetic to reduce discomfort. If necessary, sedation options may be discussed. At Pearl Street Dental, we use specialized tools including lasers to gently loosen and remove the tooth from its socket. The procedure typically lasts from a few minutes to about an hour, depending on the complexity.

You should not feel pain during the procedure due to the anesthetic. However, you might feel pressure or a tugging sensation as the dentist works. After the anesthesia wears off, some pain or discomfort is typical, which can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers or prescribed medication.

Recovery typically involves a few days of mild discomfort and swelling, which can be managed with ice packs and medication. You'll be advised to eat soft foods and avoid strenuous activity for a couple of days. It's also important to avoid smoking and drinking through a straw to prevent complications like dry socket.

At Pearl Street Dental, our patients typically experience less pain and faster healing because of our laser-assisted extraction process that also includes ozonated water and gas for better detoxification. To learn more, please contact our office.

Post-extraction care involves gently rinsing with warm salt water after meals and brushing your teeth carefully, avoiding the extraction site. This helps keep the area clean and reduces the risk of infection. You’ll also need to avoid any suction in the mouth, such as using a straw, as this can dislodge the blood clot that forms in the socket.

Most people can return to work or school within a day or two of an extraction, but it’s advised to avoid vigorous physical activity for at least 24-48 hours to reduce bleeding and aid the healing process. The dentist will provide specific guidance based on your particular situation and the complexity of your extraction.
