Our Technology

Our philosophy is that modern dentistry requires us to embrace new techniques and equipment. Pearl Street Dental is a leader in this community with regard to new technology and protocols.

Embracing Change

Embracing these changes has made dentistry much more acceptable to our patients and a lot more fun for the dentist. We use new proven technologies and techniques that provide a greater value to our patients. We are committed to providing this exceptional level of service while maintaining a high level of accountability and compassion, with a gracious staff and a sense of humor.

Minimally Invasive Dentistry

Minimally invasive dentistry requires these innovations. With better visualization using surgical operating microscopes, we can better diagnose decay and other diseases sooner and more accurately, and thereby take care of dental diseases earlier and with less trauma and better results.

Combining technologies

The combination of high magnification and the laser’s soft touch allows us to perform dentistry often without shots/injections and minimal use of the dental drill. This is a paradigm shift!

Digital Lasers

A key element of our state-of-the-art technology

Pearl Street Dental utilizes Fotona lasers. These lasers represent medical breakthroughs for the patient that standard dental drills cannot approach. Lasers represent the single biggest breakthrough in dental treatment in the entire history of dentistry.

Learn More About Our Lasers

Benefits to our patients

  • A more relaxing in-chair experience for our patients (fewer injections and less conventional drilling)
  • Reduces micro fracturing (i.e. cracking) of teeth by using our combination of lasers
  • Removal of dental disease can often be performed without anesthesia. This is a kinder and gentler dental experience for the teeth and gums and the patient!
  • Fewer post-operative complications
  • Quicker healing
  • Zeiss surgical microscope and Lares Lightwalker Laser

A Doctor's Dynamic Duo

The surgical microscope provides unparalleled viewing of dental tissue while the laser provides state-of-the-art treatment. This dynamic duo provides a level of patient care previously unavailable… plus, the microscopes can take digital pictures which make it easier for the patient to understand all treatments.

Laser Bacterial Reduction

This diode laser is used by our hygienist for bacterial reduction. The diode laser disinfects the pocket and cleans out diseased tissue, usually using minimal anesthetic. Often, potential periodontal surgery can be avoided using this instrument as a part of our regular hygiene procedures.

Low level laser light therapy and bio-stimulation

Our diode lasers are capable of decreasing healing time and inflammation. These benefits are enormous with regard to post-operative pain and much faster post-operative healing. We are thrilled to be able to decrease pain and symptoms with these “cold lasers.” The uses and advantages of low level light laser therapy are profound.

Digital X-Rays

Digital X-rays, Panorex®, X-Rays and Intra-Oral Digital Imaging

Digital and Panorex® x-rays are the newest and safest way to image our patient’s teeth. They use much less radiation than conventional x-rays and these digital images are instantly available to view side-by-side with our patient. There are no chemicals or development time.

Digital x-rays are an enormous advancement in safety and communication. Combining the microscope and digital intra-oral photography, we can communicate like never before.

A picture says a thousand words. We can document and store digital photographs in our patient’s chart, which help tell the story of each individual procedure.

Microscopes are a key factor in our approach to dental health

Imagine being able to see and define dental problems like never before. Our microscopes and our techniques are a quantum leap forward over traditional imaging of teeth.

Not only do we see much better, we have greater control over our instruments and are more precise in all dental procedures. One of our mottos at Pearl Street Dental is: “See better to do better.”

Learn More About Our Microscopes

This Simple Concept Results In:

  • Early and timely diagnosis of dental disease
  • Better visual outlining and understanding of various dental problems
  • Better communication with our patients. Cameras in the microscopes allow patients and the doctor to see dental issues at the same time. This allows the patient and doctors to co-diagnose
  • A clearer picture of how to proceed; with this level of magnification and illumination, far more detail can be seen and understood
  • We all understand the mouth is a small, dark, and highly complex environment. Our microscopes allow for high precision in very difficult working conditions

Cerec Cad/Cadm Technology

Tooth restoration that is easier and more accurate

CEREC is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, or CERamic REConstruction. Translated, it means that I can economically restore damaged teeth in a single appointment using a high-quality bio-compatible ceramic material that matches the natural color of your other teeth.

Learn More About Our cerec technology

How does the instrument work?

CEREC uses CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and milling machine in one instrument. We use a special camera to take an accurate picture of the damaged tooth.

This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where the I use CAD technology to design the restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically creates the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, I bond the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole process takes about one hour, and crowns only about 2 ½ hours.

What does this innovation mean for a patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant.

In most cases, we no longer need to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional second visit has been eliminated.

CEREC has two decades of clinical research and documentation to support the technology. The restorations have been proven precise, safe and effective.
